Summary:
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides school health services as directed by the School Health Services, Clinical Coordinator (Registered Nurse) to the student population serviced.
Responsibilities:
Actively interfaces with patients and families of Akron Children's Hospital Collects data that contributes to the assessment and evaluation of individualized care and needs of assigned patients, including discharge plans, under the direction of the licensed nurse.
Prepares patients for examination; takes and records vital signs; administers medications as directed by the Providers according to policy and procedure.
Accurate and timely documentation of care within the school medical record Collects, process, and submits laboratory specimens in accordance with policy and procedure.
Performs clinical duties that are department specific such as PCOT, hearing and vision screenings, and any other procedures.
Communicated patient findings and pertinent information to the Provider and/or Licensed Nurse utilizing appropriate communication/documentation processes.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age and developmental status.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with patients/students, families, school personnel and colleagues.
Performs routine task and general office duties such as faxing, copying, filling, etc.
as needed.
Completes all assignments during scheduled working hours.

Technical Expertise Knowledge of and experience in medical terminology is required.
Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.
Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
Experience working in electronic medical record (i.
e.
, EPIC) or similar software is preferred Education and Experience Education:
